Collections Assistant
The Wolfsonian¬–Florida International University is seeking Collection Assistants for a 6-month period, with the option to renew, ideally starting on May 1st, 2024. This role involves supporting the packing and transportation of collection objects between our storage facility and museum building in Miami Beach. We are looking for candidates with art handling expertise and strong packing skills. .
Responsibilities
• Assists in the safe packing and transportation of museum objects following proper museum preservation standards.
• Helps in the design and construction of customized supports, boxes, and portfolios for a diversity of artworks including ceramics, metals, wooden objects, works on paper, and paintings.
• Maintains accurate inventory spreadsheets (Excel) and prepares files to be uploaded into the museum database.
• Supports collection care tasks such as environmental monitoring, pest management, and storage spaces maintenance.
• Performs other collections care duties as directed by the Collections Manager.
Part-time and full-time position available.
