The Studio Programs Manager is responsible for conceiving, implementing, and managing studio programs for various age groups including children, teens and adults. This position oversees programs that utilize The Bass’ collections and special exhibitions as a learning resource for all ages.
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week Monday through Friday onsite at The Bass; with frequent evening or weekend hours. This exempt position reports to the Director of Education. Primary areas of responsibility include general administrative and clerical duties for the Museum Education Department, developing and managing education programs and community events and providing customer service to visitors/callers and program participants to The Bass.

Recruit, hire, train, and supervise contracted Teaching Artists, Class Assistants, Volunteers and Interns
Manage and oversee the scheduling of Teaching Artists, Class Assistants, Volunteers, Docents/Tour Guides and Interns; assist with logistical needs, and communicate updates to appropriate internal staff and departments
Conduct evaluations and assessments of programs
Develop strategic partnerships with cultural and community organizations to expand studio programs
Serve as the primary public contact for the department
Manage budgets for studio programs, order materials and submit invoices/receipts for any expenses related to the programs
Maintain 3 art studio classrooms and storage, including use, organization, and cleaning of spaces, purchasing and inventory of supplies
Handle registrations, scheduling and set up of all studio programs including school/group tours
Manage department records and databases and provide reporting information for grants and other supporters/funders
Prepare marketing material content, review online content, write text and provide images for communications department to promote studio programs
Occasionally deliver talks, workshops and activities in partnership with other education staff, storytellers and teaching artists
Contribute to other Education Department/Museum initiatives and project as time permits

Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new programs
Commitment to social inclusion and making museums accessible to a wide-ranging audience
Proficiency in Spanish desirable
Comfort and ability with databases and compiling statistics
Knowledge of ALTRU program desirable
BA in art education or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
2-3 years of professional experience in a museum or art education setting
Strong interpersonal skills in an environment with extensive public contact with people who are diverse in age, cultural background, and ability
Experience supervising teaching artists and part-time staff
Experience coordinating programs, developing lesson plans, originating, implementing and conducting art education programs
Computer literacy, knowledge of Word, Excel and most Microsoft applications
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
During the COVID-19 pandemic, this person will split time between working remotely from home and working onsite at The Bass. Proper equipment and supplies needed to complete the requirements of the job will be provided. Once staff are required to return to the building, so will this position.
Position requires working at a desk and utilizing computer and telephone for prolonged periods of time.
For special events, must be able to stand for several hours at a time.
Position may require occasional heavy lifting of 30 lbs. or less.
