Job Description:

In support of the New World Symphony’s institutional mission, the Community Engagement Manager supervises and develops NWS community engagement training, concerts, and activities. Working with the Musician Advancement Department the successful candidate will provide employment enhancing skill development opportunities to Fellows, skills that are relevant to the needs of the field including but not limited to, curriculum planning, program management, teaching artistry, and program and partnership development. Depending upon demonstrated ability and subject to performance, this position has room for growth; specifically, in the areas of project development, management and relationship building.
  • Under the direction of the VP for Musician Advancement, responsible for:
    • Maintaining CE Calendar
    • Coordinating and scheduling all CE meetings, events and programs, including scheduling of Fellows
    • Maintaining relationships with community partner staff and participating teachers.
    • Model superior communication, engagement, and organization skills for the Fellows
    • Preparing and coaching Fellows for Community Engagement events
    • Database upkeep; including tagging CE events in Arts Vision to appear on institutional weekly schedules; entering Fellow’s CE participation in Arts Vision
    • Working with the VP for Musician Advancement in advancing the institutional priorities of diversity, equity and inclusion.
    • Assisting with evaluations of CE programs
    • Driving fellows to CE events as needed
    • Maintaining CE files and instrument collection
    • Collaborating internally with NWS departments, including but not limited to, Finance, Development, Communications, and Artistic Programs
    • Participating in the creation of and working within program budgets
    • Maintaining budget tracking and forecasting in coordination with the Finance Department
    • Collaborating with the Artistic Programs team for all CE produced concert programs
    • Collecting data and surveys and helping to prepare reports and statistical data as needed
    • Staffing Community Engagement and Musician Advancement-related events as needed (including some evening and weekend events)
    • Other duties and projects as assigned

Job Requirements:

Required: This position requires curiosity, openness and a desire to learn. Baccalaureate degree and 1-3 years of work experience in an administrative role; strong people skills, strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to prioritize and manage numerous tasks with high attention to detail; a high degree of organization; a working knowledge of classical music; the ability to interact positively and sensitively and with a wide variety of personalities in a variety of settings; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; willingness to be flexible in scheduling of work hours.
Good driving record and personal vehicle required.
Desired: Experience as a teaching artist, working with a diverse community, schools or community-based organizations, fluency in Spanish.
