General Summary

The ArtCenter/South Florida (the “Center”) seeks a Cinematic Arts Program Manager to oversee and manage the organization’s Cinematic Arts Program.

This position will work closely with the Director of Programming and will help oversee and implement the new Cinematic Arts Program at the Center.

Candidates must have a proven track record and experience with working in cinema; having made or worked on a film (short or feature) is preferred. Candidates must have experience in working with filmmakers, as well as working with community partners. This position will be an active public voice for the Center’s Cinematic Arts Program.

Center Background

The ArtCenter/South Florida opened its doors to the public in 1984. The Center has an annual operating budget of $2.7 million and an endowment of $100 million. The Center has 12 employees and a Board of Directors presently composed of 14 members.

Through its artist residency program, exhibitions, direct support to artists, studio art classes, educational programs, outreach programs, art film programs, community events and curatorial lectures, the Center is recognized as the leading visual artist support organization of Miami Dade County.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Helping to oversee the application and jurying process for the two Cinematic Arts residents who will begin their residency in Jan of each year.
  • Schedule, implement, and oversee the Cinematic Arts Residency program
  • Schedule, implement, and oversee the Cinematic Arts public-facing programming – i.e. Guest Artist lectures, masterclasses, etc.
  • Oversee the Center’s Art Films public program in partnership with O Cinema;
  • Identify, initiate, and deepen relationships with various partners in the independent filmmaking community;
  • Maintain deadlines with set deliverables with the Cinematic Arts residents
  • Create mechanisms for internal and external evaluation for the Cinematic Arts residency;
  • Work closely with the Cinematic Arts resident filmmakers and assist in various ways to help achieve their deliverables;
  • Compile collected information for VP of Programming to regularly present to the Center’s Board and staff leadership.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

This position requires a bachelor’s degree and three or more years in filmmaking, film festival administration or other related experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Experience and success working in the filmmaking community, whether that be actually working on a film or at a film festival;
  • Extremely well-versed in the Cinematic Arts discipline; technical skills in the area of filmmaking is a plus;
  • Effective communication, both in person and in writing (fluency in Spanish is valued but not required);
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers;
  • Ability to work and nurture emerging artists in a holistic service environment;
  • Success at managing a wide array of tasks and projects and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment;
  • Willingness to work select weekends and to occasionally adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the job;
  • Excellent organization and planning skills;
  • Basic computer skills on a Windows system (knowledge of Adobe applications is a plus);
  • Familiarity with the national independent film community (Miami filmmaking community is a plus);
  • Passion for the Arts and the power of storytelling.

Compensation

The Cinematic Arts Program Manager compensation level is commensurate with experience and includes a strong benefits plan, including health insurance and 401K matching.
