Locust Projects is a not for profit exhibition space dedicated to providing contemporary visual artists the freedom to experiment with new ideas without the pressures of gallery sales or limitations of conventional exhibition spaces. Local, national and international artists are encouraged to create site-specific installations as an extension of their representative work. Locust Projects supports the local community through educational initiatives and programming that are free to the public.

Job Description
 
The Development Director at Locust Projects is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy for consistent cultivation, retention, and stewardship for Locust Projects donors, members, and sponsors. In addition to fundraising and friend-raising, this position is responsible for implementing and overseeing benefits, recognition and engagement opportunities for donors, members and sponsors consistent with Locust Projects mission and vision. The Development Director works as part of a team with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and staff to support the artist-centric mission and values of Locust Projects.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Recommend, create, and implement stewardship, accountability and reporting strategies to create a sustainable and cohesive member/donor/sponsor experience from solicitation to stewardship, retention and engagement.
  • Work with Executive Director and Development Committee of the Board to establish and achieve annual fundraising goals
  • Develop and oversee member, donor and sponsor engagement programs and cultivation events
  • Oversee annual fundraising events including Spring Fling and Smash & Grab
  • Develop and oversee content and strategies to attract, inform and engage Locust Projects donors and members
  • Identify new prospects and cultivation opportunities
  • Oversee grant writing strategy, schedule and reporting working with grants writer.
  • Maintain and maximize Locust Projects’ use of current communications and cultivation vehicles including E-Tapestry, social media platforms and locustprojects.org
  • Supervise 2-related support staff, events/membership volunteers and interns
 

 
 

Job Requirements:

Job Requirements and Qualifications
 
  • Minimum of two years of experience in direct membership/donor relations, fundraising, and stewardship for arts-related non-profits required
  • Must be able to make informed decisions on maintaining Locust Projects’ positive image and public perception of Locust Projects and its programs
  • Proficiency in E-Tapestry or similar CRM/donor management system is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in arts, museum administration, public relations, communications, or related field preferred
  • Experience coordinating fundraising events preferred
  • Familiarity with South Florida’s art and culture philanthropic community preferred
  • Excellent communications, organizational skills, attention to detail, resourcefulness, strategic thinking, mentorship, and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects under demanding deadlines required
  • Ability to oversee departmental budgeting, planning, coordination and on-time completion of tasks related to member, donor, sponsor cultivation and stewardship
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service experience required
  • Interest in professional development and improvement as professional in your field
  • Ability to work nights and occasional weekends required; occasional travel
  • Highly motivated team player
  • Love of contemporary art and artists, a sense of humor, and unflappability a plus
