Job Description
The Development and Membership Associate is responsible for supporting the Executive Director and Development and Communications Manager in developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy for consistent cultivation, stewardship, meaningful recognition, and engagement opportunities for Locust Projects donors, members, and sponsors. In addition to administrative support for grants writing, the primary focus of this position is customer service, relationship management, event support and database maintenance. The Development and Membership Associate works as part of a team with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and staff to support the artist-centric mission and values of Locust Projects, Miami’s longest running alternative art space.

Essential Job Functions
  • Manage donor administration activities, including drafting donor reports, donor database entry, updates, invitations, thank you notes, and other materials
  • Steward member and donor relationships throughout the year with outreach and acknowledgement;
  • General administrative support of Executive Director with an emphasis on fund development;
  • Prepare meeting minutes for Development and Event Committee Meetings.
  • Serve as liaison with the Grants Writer and program staff tracking expense and revenue budgets and overseeing grant schedules and reporting; as well as managing department related budgets.
  • Assist with preparing solicitation materials, membership stewardship, fundraising report presentations, and proposals as needed. 
  • Implement and monitor metrics and analysis of online fundraising and constituent  mobilization campaigns.
  • Maintain and monitor Membership lists, mailings, and mail merges as needed. Schedule meetings and develop relationships in the support of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors – including meetings with key players (Board Leadership, Leaders in business and government);
  • Prepare research material for donors in support of Executive Leadership;
  • Prepare presentation materials; coordinate the production of promotional materials;
  • Occasional relief coverage at the front desk.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in membership/donor relations and stewardship for non-profits required
  • Proficiency in E-Tapestry or similar CRM donor management system is required
  • Experience in use of social media as a communications and promotional  tool supporting membership and events
  • Bachelor’s degree in arts administration, non-profit management,  development, public relations, communications, or related field preferred
  • Experience coordinating special events preferred
  • Excellent communications, organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects under demanding deadlines required
  • Must be self-motivated and a self-starter.
  • Strong project management and organization skills.
  • Skilled in Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and database management software
  • Warm, professional, outgoing attitude when dealing with donors and the public
  • Calm and patient demeanor when handling difficult interactions
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, in English
  • Ability to work nights and occasional weekends required
