Reports to: Director of Finance
Position type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Hours : 20 hours per week
Schedule: Wednesday –Sunday, 11:00am–6:00pm with some event hours required
Salary: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour depending on experience
Position Summary: The Retail Sales Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a welcoming and organized store environment, and assisting visitors in selecting and purchasing merchandise that enhances their museum experience by highlighting merchandise relative to the Museum’s collections and exhibits.
Responsibilities: Greets customers warmly, answers questions, and provides information Promoting sales, informing customers about promotions and discounts, and upselling Process purchases and returns and handle refunds accurately and efficiently Stock shelves, receive and organize merchandise, and place special orders Keep the gift shop clean and organized, ensuring displays are inviting and merchandise is restocked and replenished as needed. Conduct regular inventory checks Help with the opening and closing process Handle customer complaints with professionalism and empathy, ensuring a positive resolution Create and maintain accurate customer profile records Assist in maintaining the gift shop inventory Act as an ambassador for the Museum Stays current with the Museum’s collections and exhibits Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Job Requirements:
Requirements: Minimum of two years customer service and sales experience Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience operating a POS systems Cash handling experience Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Creativity and experience with retail displays Demonstrated interest in arts, culture and/or museums Self-motivated, hard-working, high energy team player Must be able to work under pressure and in constantly changing conditions Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, communicate, and use repetitive motions. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may frequently lift and or move 20 pounds of materials.
