Job Description:

Summary
Open to all, TBAM is a nurturing and caring Reform congregation committed to Jewish continuity, life-long education, spiritual renewal, life-cycle transitions, Shabbat and holiday celebrations. Beth Am offers religious, educational, cultural, social and athletic programs that meet the dynamic needs of our community.

With the brand-new addition of The Hub, a 514-seat theatre, TBAM is seeking its first Technical Director to handle aspects of production technical needs for programs and events across campus. 
 
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR will:
●      Create and update tech specs for internal and external distribution.
●      Liaise with internal and external parties to advance production aspects of a wide range of performances and events, from school-related events to professional performances.
●      Supervise overall production of shows from load in through load out and set up equipment as needed.
●      Communicate set up needs to internal operations staff.
●      Run sound or lights as needed.
●      Hire and schedule production crew for events and report payroll/request payments as needed.
●      Provide technical expertise for internal and external parties.
●      Maintain equipment through proper use, supervision and maintenance.
●      Train key existing staff on production equipment where appropriate.
●      Program basic lighting cues.
●      Create production estimates and contribute to departmental annual budgeting process.
●      Order production supplies and rental equipment including backline.
●      Provide event settlement documents in a timely manner.
●      Participate in feedback sessions to evaluate and improve event process.
●      Work with a variety of constituents – professional artists, renters, school, staff, clergy and members – and find effective and efficient mays to meet their various production needs.
●      Represent TBAM in a professional manner and provide a great experience to artists, renters, staff and members. 
  • Address other needs as they arise in this newly-created position.

●      Technical Knowledge - They must have a capable command of small-to-mid-sized venue sound and lighting systems (Yamaha sound board, ETC lighting equipment, JBL speakers, etc.). They must be able to adapt knowledge to different spaces on campus. In addition, they must be able and willing to learn any programs used by TBAM to make the office run smoothly and possess full command of the Microsoft office programs - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.  
●      Problem Solving Skills - Possess problem-solving skills and focus on critical thinking.  They are required to be an issue solver and a decision-maker on their feet. 
●      Time Management Skills -  Have excellent time management and prioritizing skills and be able to work effectively under deadlines. 
●      Teamwork – Place goals of TBAM foremost when interacting with others at all levels. Build an environment that fosters teamwork and enhanced task accomplishment through positive and supportive cooperation.
●      Communication – Demonstrate relevance and clarity of written and oral expression. Express ideas clearly and demonstrate effective listening skills. Effective in exchanging ideas and information. Applies to communications with both co-workers and customers. English fluency isrequired, Spanish speaking is a plus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is rarely exposed to the risk of electrical shock. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to medium.
