SUMMARY:

The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science is seeking a full-time Retail Sales Lead for the Retail team. The Retail Sales Lead is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Retail Store. This team member is responsible for embodying the first impression of Frost Science and is an integral part of the 365-day operation. Must present a friendly demeanor while greeting and providing customer service to guests, informing them of the retail and/or promotional items present in the Science Store, performing technical tasks in the point-of-sale system (Heartland Retail), and completing daily assigned tasks. Must embrace and model outstanding customer service to all.

Sales Lead:

• Supervise and observe floor staff to ensure a guest first set mindset, this includes ensuring that floor staff are prioritizing the retail guest experience.
• Lead by example and assist guests with a variety of transactions, questions, and concerns through a seamless and friendly experience.
• Ensure that all guest needs are being met during their visit to the retail store. Handle customer complaints, issues, and questions relating to the retail store.
• Ensure floor staff understands and adheres to the operation binder daily task list, daily goals, and product knowledge information. Must complete daily operation checklist and ensure task completion by promoting productivity within the workplace and providing guidance to the retail team.
• Give direct instructions to floor staff to ensure product processing is done efficiently and accurately. This includes merchandising instruction, product placement, product storage, and follow up as necessary to ensure completion of tasks.
• Understand sales targets, this includes all KPI’s within the retail financial ledger.
• Utilize computers to record sales figures, creation of items, and purchase orders for inventory management and forward planning. Ensure all items follow the departmentalization guidelines, (i.e. department, class, and subclass).
• Support the operation in administrative functions outside the scope of responsibilities on a as needed basis and directed by the Retail General Manager or Retail Assistant Manager.
• Ensure products are clean, stocked, and ready to be displayed. This includes ensuring all store fixtures are clean and in good condition. If necessary, report any fixture damages and or needs to the Retail Assistant Manager.
• Maintain health and safety measures and store’s cleanliness. This includes inventory management and organization maintenance of all auxiliary storage locations, backroom, office, store, offsite, loading dock, and any other storage locations.
• Represent the museum with the upmost integrity, exemplifying values of the organization and sharing our mission daily.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

• High School diploma (minimum requirement); higher level of education preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Minimum of 1 year of retail experience in a retail store or attraction setting
• Must be friendly and possess strong interpersonal skills to deal tactfully and effectively with guests
• Must be able to multitask and handle stressful situations in a fast-paced environment
• Must have strong oral and written communication skills
• Must be a team player who can work under minimal supervision
• Must show flexibility when asked to perform other tasks as needed
• Must have basic computer knowledge (MS Word, MS Excel, Email)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time, talk and hear.  Daily tasks require variety of physical activities, related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting,  and reaching. The employee is required to walk around the retail vicinity to ensure proper retail floor visibility, sitting only when the task assignment requires it; use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to work for extended periods of time standing and moving about frequently on hard surfaces from space to space for differing tasks. There will be a constant need to position oneself to process merchandise, which will also require bending, pulling, reaching, climbing and/or stooping. Frequently requires lifting objects up to 50 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects in excess of 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Availability

Must be available a minimum of 5 days a week from 9:30AM - 6:30PM or 10AM - 7PM. Must also be available to work on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those as employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The working environment is both the interior and exterior spaces of the museum.
