Job Description:

For 16 years, Artburst Miami has been the leading progressive hub for arts media in Miami-Dade County. With an editorial focus on dance, music, visual arts, independent film and theater, we cover the local cultural community with stories by some of Miami’s most dynamic arts journalists and bloggers. Artburst inspires readers to engage with the local creative community, lead conversations, and further the future of arts  and culture in Miami-Dade. Our new consumer facing website is part-audience development, part-education and part-entertainment.  

We are seeking a seasoned editor for Artburst. This independent consultancy position requires about 15 to 20 hours per month and pays $1,500 per month. 

 Sets editorial calendar each month. Checks arts calendars and other resources for interesting dance, music, visual arts, and theater and film performances and events to cover each month. Solicits press releases from the cultural community for story ideas. 
 Works with Artburst team on developing features, interviews and blog posts about local artists.
 Assigns content producers each week to cover selected performances and events
 Hires and sources professional arts journalists, bloggers and videographers for content.
 Edits Artburst articles as needed.
 Posts content on the Artburst website in a timely manner and ensures homepage is current.
 Follows up with writers to ensure they promote their Artburst stories through social media, with a link to the Artburst website.
 Works with local media outlets to get Artburst stories published in print and online, distributing stories and photos and following up as needed. 
 Works with media consolidators and national media outlets, such as Huffington Post. to get Artburst stories featured nationally.
 Maintains relationship with arts groups and venues.
 Sends a quarterly report to the Artburst management team with information on all articles and content produced, including details on media placements and overview of website updates. 

 Organized and detail-oriented with the skills required to handle all tasks associated with assigning and planning editorial calendar and content.
 Seasoned editor with experience working with journalists, experience in arts a plus.
 Experience editing articles.
 Highly motivated self-starter with self-discipline and capacity to work independently.
 Collaborative mindset and proven ability to work with a variety of people and environments.
 Ability to prioritize and follow through to meet deadlines.
