Job Description:

The Event and Program Coordinator is an efficient, detail-oriented member of the museum’s team that oversees the logistics of all MOCA events and programs (onsite and/or virtually). Reporting to the Director of Operations, they are responsible for ensuring that the vision for each program and event is fully realized in a well-organized, cost-efficient fashion.

Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Organize, coordinate and implement all logistics related to MOCA events and programs (onsite and/or virtually), including
    • Exhibition Openings
    • Conversations at MOCA
    • MOCA Moving Images
    • Jazz at MOCA
    • Membership and Donor Events
    • Other Events as Necessary
  • Work closely with all departments, especially Education and Development, to ensure that the programmatic vision for all events and programs is feasible and achievable.
  • Track expenditures and work with department heads to ensure that events and programs remain on or under budget.
  • Administer the MOCA Master Calendar with input from key staff.
  • Build event and program pages in Altru and track all registrations and sales.
  • Act as the on-site coordinator for all events and programs.
  • Coordinate staffing for events and programs as needed.
  • Serve on the City of North Miami Events Committee and act as liaison between the City and MOCA, ensuring that approved City events at the museum further strategic goals.
  • Coordinate all aspects of facility rentals, including applications, contracts, planning and the facilitation of logistics for the event onsite.
  • Act as point of contact for all special event inquiries.

Job Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a hospitality, event, or customer service environment.
  • Superior verbal communication skills, as well as professional interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with point of sale systems.
  • Ability to work well in a small, entrepreneurial team environment.
  • Experience working in the arts and culture sector strongly preferred.
  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Experience with Point of Sale systems
  • Experience with Altru or other databases
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish or Haitian Creole

This is a full-time, salaried position, with evening and weekend hours required as needed. Flexible scheduling and comp time are available with prior approval. A level 2 background check will be required upon offer of employment.

Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

For special events, must be able to remain standing for several hours at a time. Position may require occasional lifting of 25 pounds or less.
