Job Description:

The Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) seeks an experienced and dynamic Membership and Donor Relations Manager to help build and grow the museum’s private support. MOCA is undergoing an exciting moment in its history, and this role will actively participate in developing and realizing the museum’s long-term vision.
The incumbent’s efforts contribute to providing essential funding for the museum’s acclaimed exhibitions, public programs, education initiatives and permanent collection. This position also ensures that donors experience high-quality interactions with the museum, fostering long-term engagement and support. 
The Membership and Donor Relations Manager works tactically to support the institution's fast-paced Development Department. The position reports to the Director of Development and collaborates closely with other departments to further institutional goals. 
Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Is responsible for the discovery, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a portfolio of prospects and donors, with an emphasis on Membership, Curator’s Circle and Corporate Membership programs.
  • Researches, identifies and engages new prospects, drafting introductory meeting inquiries, follow up correspondence and funding proposals.
  • Actively solicits and closes gifts of up to $10,000.
  • Develops an attractive suite of benefits for individual and corporate members. 

  • Designs and launches compelling, innovative and successful membership acquisition campaigns, and oversees annual Give Miami Day campaign.
  • Devises and implements a comprehensive donor relations and stewardship plan to strengthen donor engagement and reengage lapsed members. 
  • Builds meaningful relationships with donors and strategically progresses qualified members through the major gifts pipeline.
  • Schedules virtual meetings, on-site visits and museum tours with members and prospects.
  • Manages an efficient moves management system and pipeline for the Development Department in close collaboration with the Director of Development.
  • Establishes and manages membership affinity groups.
  • Works closely with Development Director on cultivation events, board engagement and special projects.
  • Produces high-quality correspondence, proposals, printed materials and online content.
  • Ensures smooth administrative operations within the Development Department.
  • Represents the museum at conferences, meetings and events. 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a front-line fundraising role, preferably in an arts or non-profit setting.
  • Demonstrated success in the discovery, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors.
  • An imaginative and creative thinker, with the ability to concretize ideas into actions and measurable results.
  • Self-driven and takes initiative.
  • A consummate professional with a strong work ethic who always goes above and beyond. 
  • Strives for perfection and is supremely detail oriented.
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills.
  • Warm, friendly, outgoing demeanor with a natural ability to build relationships.
  • Confidence and assertiveness in soliciting gifts over the phone and in person.
  • Career-driven with a desire to grow within the institution.
  • Proficiency in Altru or similar system highly desired.
  • Must have a deep appreciation for diversity and community-driven work.
  • Non-profit experience required; arts background preferred.
  • Bilingual a plus.
Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience, along with an excellent benefits package.

This is a full-time, salaried position requiring some evening and weekend hours.
