Job Description:

The Director of Programs & Events is responsible for the development and coordination of the meetings, events and educational programs as well as supporting social media activities.  Regular contact with members, vendors and sponsors is required.  Other responsibilities include the design and creation of event invitations, notices, and posters.
Additional responsibilities include outreach to community to cultivate collaborative relationships with other non-profits; design promotional plan for programs and events via social media, email campaigns and marketing platforms; keep all programs and events pages on website and in social media up to date; assist with sponsorships for events and programs; set program and event goals and assess regularly and provide annual tracking and analysis of success; develop surveys to assess response to programs and events; and assist in grants management.  Other duties as assigned and needed to reach goals and complete projects

Job Requirements:

Position requirements include:
  • Three to five years’ experience in a similar position.
  • The successful candidate is a self-starter with outstanding organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with the ability to write/edit a variety of documents.
  • Experience with planning and implementing events including registration, promotion and logistics.
  • The ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Familiarity with basic HTML, website updates including text and photos, email communications, e-newsletters, and the maintenance of contact databases.
  • Working knowledge of social networking platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Linked In and ability to maintain regular communication via social media.
  • Creative graphic design skills are important.
  • Proficiency in the standard Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint and Excel), Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (public relations, marketing, event planning, nonprofit management, architecture).
