Job Description:

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County is seeking an experienced, skilled, and highly motivated Special Events Manager to support Vice President, Advancement

Basic Function
Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement, the Special Events Manager will create and carry out an annual event plan to achieve targeted financial goals. This position is responsible for developing and managing major internal and external annual fundraising and fundraising events. Key responsibilities include planning and analyzing cost-effective events, setting revenue goals, coordinating and managing sponsors, contractors, vendors, employees and volunteers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  The following are examples of the various functions required. The job requirements are not limited to items on this list.
• Researches and implements new event opportunities
• Plans, produces, and coordinates all aspects of event logistics and detail
• Works with finance department to prepare budgets 
• Monitors budget reports to analyze the cost-efficiency of internal and external events
• Manages and directs contractors and volunteers
• Works with the Manager of Membership and Director, Development services to create an annual event plan to engage current members and attract new members 
• Works with the Senior Director, Individual Giving and Director Corporate Giving to create and implement events to attract potential donors and sponsors and steward current donors and sponsors
• Maintains electronic and hard copy master files on all events
• Maintains and submits reports to Vice President, Advancement
• Ensures compliance with the provisions of all federal, state, and local regulatory standards 
• Performs other duties as deemed appropriate by the Vice President, Advancement

Ideal Experience
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
• Attendance at professional development events in the area of special events
• Experience in working in ethnically diverse and/or international environments
• Experience with strategic and operational planning and implementation of special events
• Experience with budget preparation
• Ability to speak Spanish fluently
• Facility with software programs, i.e. Tessitura; Word; Excel

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this position, the employee may frequently climb and work from a ladder or lift and/or work in confined spaces.
• The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from multiple people and interact with the public and other staff.
