Job Description:

Chaperone Supervision
  • Assist School Programs Manager with chaperone training and orientation
  • Coordinate student hall meetings
  • Act as liaison between Chaperones and the School Programs Manager
  • Coordinate and ensure equal distribution of tasks to Chaperones throughout the day regarding studio and dorm duties
  • Lead and support chaperones in enforcing policies and procedures
  • Follow-up with chaperones regarding student illnesses and urgent care visits
  • Supervise bus loading process and attendance taking at studios
  • Ensure that chaperones collaborate, bond and build a positive team dynamic
Student Affairs
  • Act as point of contact for parents and students during evenings and weekends (for urgent matters only)
  • Ensure that students understand policies clearly and follow proper procedures
  • Communicate any urgent student issues to the School Programs Manager immediately
  • Provide support to students that experience homesickness or other social issues as they arise
  • Oversee morning room checks and ensure that student health issues are being addressed
  • Ensure that engaging activities and events take place at the dorms.
  • Supervise excursions
  • Distribute to chaperones: check out forms, schedules, announcements, lunch lists, excursion and bus lists, etc.
  • Maintain database of student allergies and track new allergy information as it becomes available
  • Track and log students’ illnesses and injuries at the studios, and maintain hall pass system
  • Collect and maintain list of early arrival and early departures for students staying at UM

Job Requirements:


• Extensive experience working as a live-in chaperone or residence manager/director for a summer program or dormitory required. Experience working for a dance summer intensive strongly preferred.
• Solid leadership skills
• Ability to manage staff and delegate duties
• Adept at multi-tasking and shifting priorities
• Organized and detail oriented
• Professional demeanor and strong customer service skills
• Multiple languages a plus
