Job Description:

The HR & Operations Assistant is a new position at A4L that will support the Finance & Operations Department as it works to improve the efficiency of existing HR systems and apply new systems as warranted. The HR & Operations Assistant will also provide office management support including serving as the liaison with A4L’s IT service providers. With approximately 50 independent contractors, and providing over 80 paid arts internships per year, the assistant position will be a valuable support in the HR system.  The HR & Operations Assistant will report to and work closely with the Finance & Operations Director.

Founded in 2000, Arts for Learning (A4L) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing teaching and learning through the arts. With the tagline, “All Children. All Arts”, our vision is that Miami’s youngest residents, from infancy through high school, are empowered by the arts to thrive in the world, with knowledge, creativity and passion.  A4L serves more than 5,000 children annually through artist residencies in early learning centers, after school arts classes, summer camps, studio programs, and internships in the arts for high school students. A4L’s teaching artists are professional actors, directors, musicians, dancers, choreographers, writers, and visual artists who are committed to sharing their artistry and creative processes with Miami’s youngest learners. Job Requirements:

Human Resource Management
  • Facilitate new hire paperwork and ensure employee files are complete
  • Assist with on-boarding new employees
  • Support the Finance & Operations Department integration of new systems
  • Ensure needed employment requirements are maintained (i.e. CPR requirements and background checks)
  • Execute employee memos as needed
  • Execute core contracts, booking agreements, and close out letters with independent contractors
Office Management
  • Maintain inventory of assets & equipment
  • Serve as the liaison with A4L’s IT support company as needed
  • Manage on and offsite storage
  • Procure office supplies
  • Open, process, and distribute mail
  • AA degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the HR field preferred
  • Experience with PEOs a plus
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and self-motivated
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and provide confidentiality of data
  • Bilingual English/ Spanish preferred
Note: As A4L works directly with minors, background screenings are conducted prior to and during employment
