SUMMARY: The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science is seeking a full-time Membership Manager. Ideal candidate is an energetic, dynamic leader who is excited to take a successful membership program to the next level through close collaboration with colleagues across the institution. The Membership Manager plays a key role on the Frost Science advancement team to grow and develop Frost Science’s membership programs, build affinity with its members and create pathways towards philanthropic giving. The manager is responsible for the growth, sales and maintenance of the programs, including direct sales acquisition, renewals and member events. The manager oversees membership support staff and coordinates data entry and analysis of membership base.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Adheres to the established policies and procedures of the Museum
Develops and manages Frost Science’s Individual, Family and Young Patrons membership sales through onsite sales, direct acquisition and renewals
Works with the VP of Advancement and Community Engagement to create and monitor an annual budget of revenue associated with membership programs
Develops compelling programs to increase membership sales and member retention
Researches and implements best strategies in stewardship, renewal and upgrading of current members
Evaluates effectiveness of current membership program services, benefits, and policies, relating to retention and acquisition of members on a regular basis
Improves the metrics measuring engagement by members (visits to the Museum, event attendance, shopping, giving, opening and engaging with content, etc.), ultimately leading to improved retention results
Leads cultivation and engagement of Young Patrons by building relationships with individuals, guiding steering committees, and organizing events and partnerships
Serves as primary representative of Frost Science Membership program on a daily basis, and at all Membership events, including exhibition openings, special event days, and members-only events
Manages data resources, including providing data and metric analysis; ensures database is accurate and up-to-date
Develops direct mail and digital solicitation campaigns including creative development, copy writing and analysis/ROI
Manages list acquisition and list exchange programs with similar institutions
Contributes to Frost Science publications regarding Membership activities and acts as the content manager for membership information on the museum website and social media
Provides supervision, leadership, motivation and mentoring to support staff
Works in partnership with the Director of Guest Experience and the Director of Planetarium & Box Office Operations to create and implement a comprehensive membership training program for all frontline team members
Fosters an environment of creativity and superior guest service
Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field; a minimum of four (4) years of applicable experience working in a membership-based institution or non-profit required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Three (3) years of supervisory experience with a proven ability to plan, organize and direct work programs and supervise and motivate staff required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to integrate strategically the goals of the membership program with the broader goals of Frost Science
A demonstrated understanding of philanthropy
Experience working with an integrated Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system (Tessitura experience preferred)
Strong critical thinking and technical skills
Online acquisition campaign experience preferred
Calm and collected demeanor, willingness to support the team at every level
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to juggle numerous projects with attention to both process and people
Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively across departments in a team environment
Must have a guest focus and a commitment to excellence
Detail oriented and exceptional organizational skills required
Ability to work evenings, holidays and weekends as scheduled
Excellence in English language (oral and written) required; preference for bilingual Spanish
